Summer opens with 立夏, Start of Summer, in early May and closes with 大暑, Major Heat, in late July. The season is the most saturated of the year: the six terms run from bright fresh greens through a mid-season burst of pinks and reds to the deep, hot crimsons and oranges of high summer. It is the palette of full leaf against strong light, and because it carries the year's highest contrast it suits campaigns that need energy or heat without the specific ritual baggage of New Year red.
