Imagery & Provenance意象与出处
Solar term
小暑 · Minor Heat — "温风至,蟋蟀居壁,鹰乃学习。"
Imagery
From the Book of Songs: “the bream’s tail is reddened” — a fish worn thin from swimming upstream; the colour is likewise a heated, exhausted orange-red.
Origin
The poem uses the red tail as an image of toil. As Minor Heat’s turning colour it adds strain to the term’s oranges — heat felt as labour, the colour a body overheats to.
