Imagery & Provenance意象与出处
Solar term
清明 · Pure Brightness — "清明时节雨纷纷,路上行人欲断魂。"
Imagery
From Li He’s frontier poem — “the rouge on the frontier congeals into night’s purple”. A blackened violet that reads as near-black.
Origin
The line describes blood-red darkening into the purple of a northern night. As the combining colour it carries Pure Brightness to its floor — the four violets have travelled from reed to dye to rank to darkness, and the term ends in a colour almost indistinguishable from black.
