The purple of plum blossom — a pink that has met violet. Plum is the flower of the coldest weeks.

Origin

Plum blossom opens in deep winter, before the leaves, and its colour has always been shorthand for endurance. As the turning colour it is the term’s pink beginning to go plum — and the season beginning to go with it.
