Imagery & Provenance意象与出处

Solar term
立秋 · Start of Autumn — "凉风至,白露降,寒蝉鸣。"
Imagery
From the “Song of Chile”: “the sky is cang-cang, the wilderness vast.” A dark, muted blue.
Origin
The line is one of the oldest landscapes in Chinese poetry — sky and steppe seen as one enormous stretch of cang. As the turning colour it is the term’s blue grown deep rather than bright: distance, height, and the onset of cold.
